Made in France from the finest materials, Madeleine is our first premium line and represents a turning point for Le Tanneur. This line reinterprets the traditional hobo bag like no other, especially the large format with its minimalist and elegant lines, giving pride of place to the leather and its exceptional grain. What was our idea with the Madeleine line? To give our style team a free hand and let our years of experience speak for itself, no holds barred. From the cut to the finish, including our very own colours, everything has been meticulously calculated and crafted down to the last detail. We started with the leather: particularly supple and round full-grain bullock, one of the best leathers to be found in France.

French skill and expertise - savoir-faire - is at the heart of our approach with Madeleine. The leather comes from a family tannery founded in Espelette in 1927. The metal parts, designed as carefully as any jewellery, were designed close to Lake Geneva, and the line itself is assembled in our workshops in the Pays de la Loire. You can also find this superb craftsmanship here in two other formats: the medium shoulder bag and the small shoulder bag. Three models, 725 pieces in total, hand-numbered like works of art.

The line comes in four colours to reflect our ambitions, blackberry, taupe, burgundy and white, but Madeleine is not just about the exterior. Her interior radiates expertise, not least because she thinks big. Each format offers a spacious and optimally organised layout. "Beautiful outside, beautiful inside" is one of the fundamental values of Maison Le Tanneur; we would never neglect that. Madeleine is our own guilty little pleasure.
