Le Tanneur is a French leather goods maison, founded in 1898. Our women's handbags are cut from full-grain cowhide leather, chosen for the way it ages: it develops a patina over the years instead of wearing out. Each bag carries the everyday essentials: phone, wallet, keys.
Full-grain leather, the real thing
Full-grain leather, used across our women's handbags, is the top layer of the hide, left intact. It keeps its natural grain, and it patinas with use rather than wearing down. All of our leathers come from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group (LWG), an independent environmental audit of tanneries. Smooth or grained, supple or structured, each leather is matched to the bag it becomes. Some of our handbags are made in Signature leather, a full-grain leather micro-embossed with the house's T monogram.
Compact for the evening, roomy for the day
Our sizes run from Mini to Maxi. Compact styles hold a phone, keys and a cardholder, and go from dinner to a night out. Medium and large formats carry a full day: wallet, pouch, agenda. Each product page lists exact dimensions in inches and how the bag is carried: by hand, on the shoulder, or crossbody, depending on the model. Black, tan and mahogany work year-round, with anything. Each collection then brings its own colors: olive green, burgundy, navy. The branding stays quiet: a small metal stamp or the house's T, nothing more.
