At Le Tanneur, the French art of living has always been a great source of inspiration. Since our inception in 1898, we’ve drawn from it to create our designs. Between optimism and carefree spirit, our first master leather craftsmen thrived during the Belle Époque, laying the solid foundations of the Maison and giving rise to our primary ambition: embodying French elegance and sharing a love for fine materials and impeccably crafted leather goods. Over the decades, innovations and trends have established the strong reputation of Le Tanneur ateliers.

With the opening of retail locations, our development came with four founding principles, still guiding us today:

Le Tanneur’s expertise continues to grow and innovate, year after year, as exemplified by our Sans-Couture coin purse. Created in 1900 and awarded a silver medal at that year’s Paris Universal Exhibition, it instantly became our emblem. We still craft it today and have expanded its design into various formats: cardholders, satchels, clutches, and handbags—all available at our Edouard VII boutique in Paris and other locations across France.
